Free September Swim Lessons!

Sept Swim Lesson information

We're excited to be hosting Youth Swim Lessons again at our YMCA! To ensure that we can start as many children as we can on their way to aquatic safety and fun, we've partnered with Sam Switzer Realty to offer our September Swim Lessons for FREE!

Please note, we will ONLY be offering beginner Swim Lessons during this session, Levels 1 and 2 (see chart above). Please check back for more advanced Lessons starting next month.

Spots are limited, and will be first come, first served. If the program will not allow you to register for it, that means that the spots are full.

Please only register if you are certain you can attend.

Group Swim Lesson FAQ

Answers to your Group Swim Lesson questions.

Consult our Swim Lesson Level Selection (PDF) document to help choose the appropriate level for your child.

  • Arrive a little early: Give yourself 10–15 minutes to check in, find the pool, and get settled.
  • Bring a swimsuit: Choose something comfortable that allows your child to move freely.
  • Pack a towel: A warm, dry towel is essential after the lesson.
  • Bring goggles: If your child is comfortable wearing them, goggles can make learning easier.
  • Consider swim diapers: Children who are not fully toilet-trained should wear a swim diaper, according to your YMCA's pool policy.
  • Skip heavy meals beforehand: A light meal or snack before the lesson is usually best, if anything.
  • Encourage, don't pressure: It's normal for children to feel nervous on the first day. Offer encouragement and let the instructor guide them.
  • Most importantly, have fun! Swim lessons are an opportunity to build confidence, learn valuable water-safety skills, and enjoy being in the water.

Unfortunately, we cannot give you credit for day(s) missed in group swim lessons and we are unable to allow make-ups for the class on another day or time due to pre-determined pool availability.
